Rules and Regulations The 20th International Georg Philipp Telemann Violin Competition
1. The competition will take place from June 24th – 26th, 2023, at the Henryk Wieniawski School of Music and the Mieczysław Karłowicz School of Music, ul. 2. The competition is organized by the Georg Philipp Telemann Violin Competitions Association and by the Jarmołowicz Arts Agency. Co-organizers are the Henryk Wieniawski School of Music in Poznań and the Mieczysław Karłowicz School of Music in Poznań.
3. Only violinists born later than December 31st, 2004, are eligible for the competition. (With a date of birth in 2005 and younger).
4. Contestants will be judged by a jury chosen by the organizers. The competition will be chaired by Professor Michał Grabarczyk.
5. There will be two stages to the competition:
- Stage I: Each contestant will perform one of the 12 Fantasias for Violin without Bass by
Georg Philipp Telemann and one piece of the contestant’s choice for violin with piano or
solo violin. Performance of the selection for Stage I should last not longer than 20 minutes. - Stage II: Each contestant will perform the first or the second and third movements of any
chosen violin concerto.
6. The selections should be played from memory. The use of original editions of the 12 Fantasias (e.g. Bärenreiter-Verlag, Kassel, 1955) is recommended. The selection of works by Polish composers is also recommended.
7. The rules for awarding scores and prizes will be determined by the jury according to a separate set of regulations. Decisions of the jury are final.
8. Contestants will perform in alphabetical order, beginning with a contestant chosen by the drawing of lots.
9. No later than March 15th, 2023, candidates should submit:
- completed application form;
- photocopy of proof of payment;
- candidate photo;
- signed statement (a scan of the document) of consent to the processing of personal data pursuant to GPDR/RODO and consent to the transfer of image rights use and copyright to artistic renditions of works.
The application form should be filled out legibly without the use of abbreviations. A short artistic biography of the applicant and an evaluation by her/his teacher should be included. The information about the applicant given in the application form should be confirmed by the principal of the applicant's school.
10. Completed application form, proof of payment, candidate photo and signed consent forms should be sent electronically to stowarzyszenie@telemann.art.pl;
11. The entry fee is 50 euro. It will not be refunded in the case of a contestant’s withdrawal.
The fee must be paid by March 15th, 2023, to the following account:

12. Submission of an application form automatically implies consent to these rules and regulations.
13. The organizers reserve the right to limit the number of contestants.
14. Participants are liable for their own travel and accommodation costs.
15. The organizers do not guarantee the presence of an accompanist, however, they will provide contact details of pianists collaborating with the Competition.
16. Notification of acceptance will be sent by April 15th, 2023. This notification will include the date and time of the contestant's performance as well as information on room and board availability.
17. Contest winners are obliged to take part in the final gala concert.
18. The organizers are planning audio-visual recording of the second stage of the competition and the gala concert.
19. The competition will conclude with a gala concert featuring the competition winners and a prize-giving ceremony.
20. In case the organization of the Competition in the stationary form is not possible, it will be carried out on the basis of submitted audio-visual recordings. More details on the online implementation of the competition as well as technical guidelines for recordings will be
provided once the decision to change the formula of the competition is made. In such a situation, the closing date of the competition may also change.
